Jakarta, March 3, 2026 — Hotel Borobudur Jakarta presents the Lunar New Year & Ramadan 2026 program series titled “Discover Timeless Harmony.” One of the highlights of the program is the Lunar New Year and Cap Go Meh 2026 celebration, serving as the peak cultural celebration that reflects harmony, tolerance, and the diversity of Indonesia. This celebration is organized in collaboration with the Perhimpunan Indonesia Tionghoa (INTI), the West Kalimantan Chinese Association of Indonesia (PTKI), and the Singkawang City Government, and is supported by The Voice of Istiqlal, Air China, and Wonderful Indonesia.

As part of the Lunar New Year celebration on February 16 and 17, 2026, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta presented the Eye-Dotting Ceremony, a meaningful opening ritual symbolizing the moment of “bringing the Lion Dance to life” before the performance begins. Guests were able to witness the sacred procession followed by Lion Dance performances around the hotel area, Chinese dance performances, a Chinese Orchestra music performance in the main lobby, and Gu Zheng musical performances at Teratai Chinese Restaurant. This series of events created an authentic and warm festive atmosphere for guests celebrating Lunar New Year at the hotel.

The Cap Go Meh celebration was enlivened by a vibrant parade featuring Tatung, Lion Dance, and Dragon Dance performances presented by the West Kalimantan Chinese Association of Indonesia. The parade represents the rich cultural traditions of West Kalimantan, particularly the city of Singkawang, widely known for hosting one of the largest and most authentic Cap Go Meh celebrations in Indonesia.

Designed as an immersive cultural and culinary experience, this special evening was highlighted by a performance from Icha Yang, along with spectacular entertainment including Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performances, Chinese dancers, the presence of Caishen and Fu Lu Shou as symbols of prosperity, happiness, and longevity, as well as Chinese musical performances that created an authentic festive atmosphere within the elegant setting of the hotel’s legendary ballroom.
Priced at IDR 1,388,000 net per person, guests enjoyed a combination of special culinary offerings and vibrant cultural celebrations in one exclusive and meaningful evening. Through this Cap Go Meh celebration, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment as a destination that celebrates Indonesia’s cultural diversity through authentic, inclusive, and sustainable experiences.
“Cap Go Meh marks a meaningful closing moment in the Discover Timeless Harmony series. Through collaboration with INTI, PTKI, and the Singkawang City Government, we aim to present a cultural experience that is not only visually festive but also conveys spiritual values, tolerance, and cross-cultural harmony that remain relevant to Indonesian society today,” said Karina Eva Poetry, Director of Marketing Communication of Hotel Borobudur Jakarta.
