Celebrating Indonesia’s Spice Heritage and Cultural Legacy, “Discover The Natural Treasures: Ternate & Tidore” at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta



Jakarta, 22 April 2026 — Hotel Borobudur Jakarta presents a thematic program titled “Discover The Natural Treasures: Ternate & Tidore,” taking place from 20 April to 31 May 2026. The program is held in commemoration of Earth Day and Vesak Day, highlighting the harmony between people, nature, and culture as its core value. It showcases Indonesia’s rich history, cultural heritage, and spice legacy, particularly from Ternate and Tidore in North Maluku, which played a significant role in the historic spice trade as key producers of cloves and nutmeg. The program also highlights Borobudur Temple as one of Indonesia’s most important cultural and spiritual landmarks for the Buddhist community. This initiative is presented in collaboration with APEKSI, the Government of Ternate City, the Government of Tidore City, Yayasan Negeri Rempah, InJourney, Ehipassiko Foundation, and Yayasan El John Indonesia.

The program will be officially launched on 22 April 2026 at Flores A Ballroom, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, featuring an opening series that includes exhibitions, fashion shows, dance and musical performances, as well as cultural presentations reflecting the traditions of Ternate and Tidore. A cultural talkshow will also be held, exploring themes of spices and culture, including their relevance to Borobudur Temple as a world cultural heritage site. Speakers include the Mayor of Ternate, Mr. M. Tauhid Soleman, M.Si., the Vice Mayor of Tidore, Mr. Ahmad Laiman, S.Sos., Bram Kushardjanto as Founder and Advisor of Yayasan Negeri Rempah, and Kartika Swarnacitra as Chairwoman of Ehipassiko Foundation.

Throughout the program period, a variety of activities will be presented, including Ternate & Tidore Culinary at Bogor Cafe, available every Monday to Friday from 22 April to 31 May 2026. This culinary experience features authentic spice-based buffet dishes prepared by chefs directly from Ternate and Tidore, starting from IDR 498,000 net per person. Additional highlights include the Business & Investment Forum Ternate & Tidore (24 April 2026), Cultural Talks on the Indonesian Spice Route, the Gathering of Ternate & Tidore Diaspora Youth (26 April 2026), and the Ternate & Tidore People’s Festival (24 May 2026).

As part of the Earth Day celebration, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta collaborates with Yayasan El John Indonesia to present Mermaid & Merman Indonesia: The Spirit of the Archipelago, a performance that not only serves as a visual attraction but also conveys an important message about preserving ocean cleanliness and marine ecosystems.

Concluding the program in the spirit of Vesak Day, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, in collaboration with Ehipassiko Foundation, will host a meditation session on 7 June 2026, along with an infographic exhibition on the history of Borobudur Temple displayed in the hotel lobby as a reflection of spiritual and cultural values.

As part of the program, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta also introduces a special room package, “Borobudur Serenity Stay,” available from 24 May to 7 June 2026. The package includes breakfast for two at Bogor Cafe, a yoga and meditation session or a 30-minute reflexology treatment for two persons, two entrance tickets to Borobudur Temple per room, a Serenity Gift featuring a Borobudur history book and souvenir, a 15% discount on Food & Beverage at Bogor Cafe, Miyama, and Teratai Restaurant, early check-in at 12:00 or late check-out at 15:00 (subject to availability), and a scheduled shuttle service to Sarinah Plaza.
