Jakarta, 22 March 2025 – With its long-standing reputation as an environmentally friendly hotel, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, in collaboration with Artha Graha Peduli (AGP), is proud to support Earth Hour 2025 under the theme “Switch Off & Save Water.” This initiative is a tangible demonstration of the hotel’s commitment to conserving electricity and reducing water waste as part of the global fight against climate change and environmental degradation.
As part of this effort, selected lights in the hotel’s public areas will be turned off for 90 minutes, from 8:30 to 22:00, and replaced with candlelight strategically placed throughout the property. In addition, all areas of the hotel including guest rooms, public spaces, and staff workspaces have been equipped with faucet aerators to minimize excessive water usage. These efforts not only symbolize environmental awareness but also reflect concrete actions to reduce energy consumption and raise awareness about the importance of resource efficiency.
During the 90-minute Earth Hour period, the initiative successfully saved IDR 288.861 in electricity costs, IDR 170.306 in Air Handling Unit (AHU) expenses, and IDR 68.417 in mechanical energy savings, resulting in a total saving of IDR 527.584. This step is crucial in response to the global need to preserve natural resources and reduce environmental impact. Energy efficiency and water conservation are key components of our mission to create a greener, more sustainable environment while ensuring a comfortable and responsible experience for our guests.
At the Borobudur Backyard, Earth Hour will be filled with a variety of engaging activities for guests. The event features a bazaar of local SMEs with both indoor and outdoor booths, a candle-lighting ceremony, dance performances, acoustic music, and a range of interactive games.
We invite the public to join us in celebrating Earth Hour as a meaningful gesture of environmental care. Through innovative actions such as energy-saving and water-conservation initiatives, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta remains committed to making a positive impact on the planet and future generations. Let us turn every moment into an opportunity to live more efficiently, responsibly, and sustainably.
